Sewing For Summer with Wardrobe By Me

Wardrobe by Me has been busy, busy, busy!  I had the pleasure of testing not 1 but 2 summer tops, and they were both such fun sews! One of my sewing goals for this year was to work on incorporating more woven pieces into my wardrobe...Christina announced 2 patterns for wovens, and I knew I needed to jump on board!  Both patterns are written for wovens, but several testers successfully sized down and used a knit instead...I love that kind of versatility!

First up is the Summer Tulip Top - I'll admit...I was a little torn when I saw the line drawings, as I live in SC...and we have HOT summers here.  The thought of a collar close to my neck wasn't super appealing...but then I saw the various tester pics start to roll in, and I was captivated...and I'm so glad I gave it a try!  There were several techniques in the pattern I hadn't tried before, and it was great to stretch and grow my abilities a bit.

I love the soft gathers at the collar and the way the sleeves were finished with a simple cuff...it would be fabulous in an office, but also great for a night out with friends or my hubby.  I think this will be an especially fabulous layering piece in the fall!

Next up is the Summer Breeze tunic...I was immediately drawn to this pattern because of the soft ruffle and breezy, relaxed feel...and it is definitely love!  This was a super straightforward sew, and such a great silhouette that can be a launching point to so many great hacks!  Several of the testers lengthened the ruffle (or bodice) to turn the top into a dress. .

I'm not really much of a leggings girl, but I love that this tunic already has the length necessary to provide great coverage without needing to be lengthened, for those who love leggings.

Both patterns are on blog tour right now, and on sale for $7 (regularly $8.50) through the end of the tour (6/4).  Christina has been so generous to give away 2 patterns/day during the tour over in the Wardrobe by Me Pattern Support Facebook group...so definitely head on over and leave a comment on the day's post to enter to win!  You can also see all the other stops on the tour and check out the other great tester versions!

**I received these two patterns at no cost in return for testing the patterns.  This post contains affiliate links, that if used, will help fund my fabric stash ;)  All opinions are my own and not influenced in any way.
