Spring Into Color

spring tour.jpg

I don't know about the weather where you are, but here in SC, the weather has seemed drunk...we were tempted with spring, and then it got COLD again...of course it also didn't help that we spent a week in sunny, 80 degree Florida back at the start of March!  I'm yearning for spring, and that (plus our trip) got me thinking about my warmer-weather-wardrobe.

I remember last year when Me-Made-May rolled around...I had lots of nice long-sleeve tops...but not a lot that was warm-weather appropriate!  I want to be more prepared this year!

Enter the New Horizons Telluride Tee - it's no secret that I'm a big fan of New Horizons.  I love that Terra includes lots of options in her patterns.  I am all about stretching a dollar and getting a lot out of a pattern...the Telluride doesn't disappoint!

Check out those options!  Everything from a regular scoop neck tee, to a faux or true henley!  For those who love a hood or thumbhole cuffs...check...3 different hem options...definitely!  The pattern went together really well.  You put together the main bodice piece and then add the top portion of it depending on what neck finish you're doing - I like that you can easily swap the scoop and henley out for each other without having to reprint the whole thing.  The pattern comes in sizes XXS-3XL.

I decided to start with the regular scoop neck tee, and will expand into some of the other options for my next iteration.  This tee feels so good on!  I love that it's fitted through the bust and then has shaping at the waist and hips to keep it from feeling like a sack on.  In RTW I feel like I am always between sizes...one size is way too tight and the next swallows me, so it's nice to be able to customize for my body!  I used a nice heavy weight rayon spandex I picked up recently...but don't love the fabric on my body.  I feel it clings just a little too much!  Nevertheless...I love the pattern, and this is a great starting point for more iterations...I have already envisioned a lace overlaid bodice, a henley with long cuff sleeves (though that doesn't really fit my spring/summer motif), and a few more solids would be great too!  While basic, solid colored sews aren't the most exciting, they are great to fill holes in your wardrobe!
