Itch to Stitch It's Time to Sew Blog Tour

It’s no secret that Itch to Stitch patterns are some of my favorites…so when I heard that the It’s Time to Sew Tour was coming up - I was so happy to jump on board!

I credit Kennis with giving me the confidence to learn to sew knits a few years ago…her patterns are straightforward, easy to follow, and loaded with information that was so helpful to me as a novice (read new-to-the-world-of-adult-sewing). Ironically, for the tour I chose to sew a woven pattern, the Hvar Jacket …and paired it with another woven pattern, my Mountain View Pull-On Jeans (also a favorite!)

I have wanted to sew Hvar since it went into testing, but timing didn’t allow. In fact…I think I have bought fabric specifically for this pattern 3 or 4 times now. In general, it is so easy for me to fall into a homeschool mom wardrobe of jeans and t-shirts…but I love the idea of having pieces that help me look more put together. Hvar definitely fits the bill!

Hvar is a really quick sew - it has only 4 pattern pieces (front, back, sleeve, collar)! In usual ITS fashion, the pattern went together quickly and with no issues at all. (And PS - if you haven’t tried Kennis’ super quick and easy PDF pattern assembly method…just go check it out now…you can come back and thank me later!!) The only real difficulty I had with this sew was my fabric - it was a loose weave that wanted to fray more than I appreciated…and it was too dark for my beloved friction pens…and even chalk seemed to disappear into the weave and the interspersed light colored threads. Thankfully it came together without too much difficulty!

If you haven’t had a chance…click through and check out some of the other fabulous bloggers on the tour! I can guarantee you’ll find some great patterns to add to your fall sewing line-up :) And - Hvar is on sale for $9 today as part of the tour!! In addition there are lots of great prizes to win, and Mabel Madison is also offering $10 off a $50 order with the code ITSTOUR through September 30th.
